Paco’s Pop-Up Café was a spontaneous street placemaking experiment as Paco & Oscar from #TeamValencia visited @nabolagshager and #TeamOslo on a lovely late summer day. The free café was set up in front of a school and was a big hit with passers-by, with delicious Mexican food, games, and good stories from neighbors, teachers and students. So glad our program brought them together and the synergies continue beyond their original projects! ✨⠀

Last week, #TeamChisinau inaugurated #CasaMicle, a pavillion and meeting space where people can learn more about their vision to turn Veronica Micle Street into a pedestrian zone. 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏾‍♀️
During the Sidewalk Forum, Architects, experts in urbanism and civic activists participated expressing their own ideas and views regarding pedestrian streets and public spaces. The adults, alongside with children, valued this amazing opportunity to have, at least for a day, the street as a pedestrian space. They played on it, engaged in long walks and conversations and drew with colored chalk on asphalt. .

Yesterday, we explored the port city of Rijeka and learned from @rijeka2020 and @deltalab_rijeka about an area called “Sweet and Salt” where the river meets the sea, an industrial area with many abandoned spaces that they are now reclaiming for the local community. One of their plans is to restore access for residents to the seaside and riverside for swimming, leisure and more — through simple and cheap interventions, using mostly what is already there. Rolling through beautiful forests, villages, and mountains all the way to the sea from Zagreb to Rijeka would have already been enough. But we did it Actors style: had a wagon just for us and took the time to reconnect, reflect and find out what all the teams have been up to in the past few months. All with a good dose of humor. It emerged out of nothing last May, and returned to nothing in September. Now, Berlin’s @floatinguniversity is trying to find ways to keep this inner-city offshore laboratory for collective, experimental learning alive.
